TOWARDS CARBON NEUTRAL CEMENT PLANT WITH MINIMAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Cement is king among building materials, and cement-based concrete is the most widely used material in the world next to water. Globally, we use 5 times more concrete than bricks, 8 times more concrete than wood and as much as 100 times more concrete than steel. As a building material, concrete already has the lowest carbon footprint today, and as its use increases, the need for decarbonisation is gaining importance. It is therefore very important to find a way of decarbonising cement production.
At the Salonit Anhovo cement plant where we produce up to one million tons of cement binder per year, we are aware of our responsibility in fulfilling our common commitments and targets for achieving climate neutrality.
We are setting an ambitious goal for ourselves, i.e., decarbonising cement production by the year 2035. At the same time, we want to strengthen our role in the realization of the circular economy and in the continued mitigation of the effects on the environment.
We present the green transition of the cement plant on its way to carbon-free production. We want to continue to connect with experts so that we complement one other in a shared vision of achieving climate neutrality.
