Seventh EMPHNET Regional Conference

COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented global crisis, causing millions of lives to be lost, and leaving public health systems in shock and economic and social disruption. The pandemic has disproportionately affected the most vulnerable. It has challenged local, national, regional, and global capacities to prepare and respond to health threats. The various national strategies taken to control viral transmission are widely debated. However, the relative success of these strategies depends largely on how an existing health system is structured, governed, and financed across all levels. Coordination is key, as health plays a pivotal role in strengthening resilience at individual, community, and system levels. In the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR), a region characterized by economic disparity and socio/political unrest, investing in building communities’ resilience is vital. This can be achieved through collaboration, mobilization of resources, and most importantly the breaking down of existing barriers. While countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region vary in economic growth and development levels, it is a fact that several countries within the region face serious health challenges. Regionally, positive steps are being taken to create progress in health and well-being; however, additional and innovative action is needed to accelerate progress towards achieving the needed resilience to overcome current and future health threats. The Seventh EMPHNET Regional Conference will be dedicated to exploring ways for achieving public health resilience. To this effect, EMPHENT is adopting the theme “Towards Public Health Resilience in the EMR: Breaking Barriers,” Conference sessions bring highly promising opportunities to explore ways to achieve such goals in our region. The conference will be held in Amman, Jordan, between November 15 and 19, 2021 at The Landmark Hotel & Conference Center. Pre-conference workshops will be held on November 14, while the opening ceremony will take place on November 15. The Conference activities will commence on the latter date and will conclude with the closing ceremony on November 18. The varied and broad participation in the Conference is a true opportunity to exchange knowledge. In roundtable sessions, workshops, abstract presentations, and meetings, a wide range of topics focus on exploring ambitious and innovative solutions that can be created and implemented among multi-sector and multi-national partners to break down existing and anticipated barriers, and other hindrances standing in the way of achieving healthier communities الانضمام إلى الحدث

About the Conference

In roundtable sessions, workshops, abstract presentations, and meetings, a wide range of topics focus on exploring ambitious and innovative solutions that can be created and implemented among multi-sector and multi-national partners to break down existing and anticipated barriers, and other hindrances standing in the way of achieving healthier communities
